Business Debtline and npower win award

We were very pleased to see that the referral partnership between Business Debtline and npower was recognised at the recent Credit Today Utility and Telecoms Awards, with npower winning the 2013 Treating Customers Fairly award as a result of our partnership. Business Debtline advisers talk npower customers through a thorough review of their financial situation and, where possible, work to keep viable businesses afloat.

We have seen a growth in small businesses needing help with energy debts over recent years and so we are actively seeking to work with the commercial arms of energy companies. We have also worked with Scottish Power to train their collections team on vulnerability and referrals to debt advice. The success of our referrals programme with npower and training with Scottish Power will no doubt help us encourage more energy companies, and other creditors, to engage with Business Debtline.

Jason Scagell, npower Director of SME, said:

"Receiving the Treating Customers Fairly award is a fantastic achievement for npower and is testament to the hard work our teams put in every day to support our business customers and their energy needs.

"We've built up a strong relationship with Business Debtline to make sure any business customers who may be struggling financially are given impartial advice and support. Our aim is to work together to find flexible solutions that support businesses in managing their energy costs and payments."
