The Money Advice Trust welcomes a new Chair and appoints a new Trustee

National debt advice charity the Money Advice Trust has today confirmed the appointment of a new chair. Mike Barley has taken over from Martin Hall following a five month handover period. Additionally the Trust welcomes Gail Scott-Spicer, Director of Marketing and Communications at The Scout Association, to its trustee board with immediate effect.  Outgoing Chair Martin Hall MVO MBE becomes an Ambassador for the Trust.

 
 
Joanna Elson OBE, Chief Executive of the Money Advice Trust, said:
 
“These are difficult times for many households across the UK, and charities like ours have a big role to play in keeping the UK economic recovery on track. I am delighted to have Mike Barley as our Chair to help direct the work of the Trust in the coming years.
 

“Gail Scott-Spicer will add important expertise to our board in a range of areas. It is vital that more people become aware of our services and Gail’s marketing background will help us achieve this.

Mike Barley, Chair of the Money Advice Trust, said:

Gail Scott-Spicer, new Money Advice Trust trustee, said:

Mike Barley

Mike has been a trustee of the Trust since 2010, offering over 30 years of experience of the financial services industry. Mike has extensive regulatory and risk management experience and previously Chaired the Trust's Audit Committee. Mike was previously Chief Executive of commercial lending at Close Brothers Ltd., and has also worked for Abbey National and Wagon finance. Mike has also been a Non-Executive Director and Treasurer of the National Autistic Society.

 

Gail Scott-Spicer

 

Gail is Director of Marketing and Communications for The Scout Association and has held a number of other key marketing posts in the charity and not-for-profit sectors. 

Gail is also a trustee of CharityComms, the professional membership body for charity communicators, and was a commissioner on NCVO’s Emerging Leader’s Commission. She holds MA in marketing management, an Institute of Directors diploma in company direction and is a chartered marketer.
