Mike Barley appointed Chair Designate of the Money Advice Trust

·         Current Chair Martin Hall MVO MBE will hand over to Mike Barley in November
National debt advice charity the Money Advice Trust has today announced that Mike Barley is appointed into a new role of Chair Designate and will work closely with current Chair Martin Hall until a full handover in November, when Martin will step down from the Trustee Board.
Martin Hall has been Chair of the Money Advice Trust –which runs National Debtline, Business Debtline, My Money Steps and wiseradviser since – 2005 and a Trustee since 1994. Helping guide the Trust through the financial crisis and the ensuing jump in demand for advice services, Martin has brought invaluable expertise and insight into the Trust and to the broader credit and debt sector.
Mike Barley joined the Money Advice Trustee Board in 2010 bringing extensive regulatory and risk management experience. Mike currently chairs the Money Advice Trust Audit Committee. Mike was previously Chief Executive of commercial lending at Close Brothers Ltd, and has worked for Abbey National and Barclays Bank. Mike also has extensive knowledge of the third sector, having been a Non-Executive Director and Treasurer of the National Autistic Society and a Trustee and Treasurer of The Landirani Trust.

Mike’s contribution to the Trust since joining the Trustee Board in 2010, in addition to his vast experience of both the finance industry and the third sector, means that he is well  placed to help the  Trust  to capitalise on the  opportunities and challenges in the years ahead.”
