How do I apply?
Please make sure that you have read these guidelines and the application guidance notes carefully before you start filling in your application. If your application is not complete, or your organisation does not meet our conditions and is not eligible for a grant, we will not consider your application.
If you are not sure if you are eligible for a grant, please email Emily Hopkins on grants@moneyadvicetrust.org or phone her on 020 7653 9734.
What do I need to do first?
To make sure you have the best chance of getting a grant, do your groundwork first. Make sure you know what work you want to do before you apply.
What other information do you need?
You will need to fill in an application form. Please also send us information on your:
- project budget;
- organisation budget;
- accounts; and
- equal opportunities policy.
What happens next?
Once we have received your application, we will contact you to confirm that we have received your application.
We aim to acknowledge all applications within 10 days of receiving them. If your application arrives after the deadline, we will refuse it at this stage, unless we have agreed an extension with you.
To find out more about your application and your organisation, we may:
- ask you for more information;
- get confidential advice from an independent organisation; or
- arrange to meet with you.
However, this does not guarantee that we will accept your application and give you a grant.
After we have received your application, our Grants Committee (a subcommittee of our Trustee Board) will consider it. Our Grants Committee will then make their recommendations to the Trustee Board, who will decide whether or not to approve your application and give you a grant. We will write to you and tell you our decision. If we offer you a grant, we will send you an offer letter, an acceptance form and other paperwork, which you will need to fill in, sign and send back to us. If we are giving you the grant under certain conditions, we will tell you what these conditions are in the letter we send you. We will also send you details of when and how the grant will be paid.
If we refuse your application, we will explain our reasons why (if possible). We would like you to tell us what you think of our services, to help us improve our work. However, we do not encourage people to write to us just because they do not agree with our decisions.
